To understand more about the habits of people using Online Dating, Kaspersky Lab has reviewed the literature and found eleven studies that have explored the patterns and motivations for use. These are mostly quantitative studies, many which have been cross-sectional (Blackhart et al. 2014; Chan 2017; Corriero and Tong 2016; Gunter 2008; Hance et al. 2018; Hwang 2013). Two studies focused on personality correlates, with those low in openness to experience being more likely to misrepresent themselves and neurotic individuals seeking control over their online representation.
